Product Details

Product Overview

Our BG-96B Silica Brick is a high-performance silica refractory specifically engineered for the superstructure of glass melting furnaces, offering an optimized balance of purity and cost-effectiveness. Like its BG-96A counterpart, the “96” designation indicates a minimum silica (SiO₂) content of 96% , while the “B” grade represents a formulation with slightly modified impurity limits for applications where ultra-high purity is not the primary requirement .

Manufactured from selected high-purity quartzite with controlled mineralizer additions, BG-96B silica bricks feature a stable microstructure dominated by tridymite and cristobalite crystals. With carefully managed Fe₂O₃ content and熔融指数, these bricks provide excellent high-temperature performance, good resistance to alkaline vapor attack, and reliable volume stability—making them a trusted choice for glass furnace crowns, regenerators, and superstructure applications .

Key Features & Benefits

  • High-Temperature Strength: BG-96B silica bricks maintain robust mechanical strength at elevated temperatures, with a refractoriness under load (T0.6) of ≥1670-1680°C , ensuring structural integrity of furnace superstructures under demanding operating conditions .

  • Controlled Impurity Levels: With Fe₂O₃ content strictly limited to ≤0.7-0.8% and Melt Flow Index (Al₂O₃+2R₂O) controlled at ≤0.7% , BG-96B bricks minimize the formation of low-melting phases while offering a practical specification for a wide range of glass furnace applications .

  • Stable Volume Performance: The optimized phase composition ensures minimal permanent linear change (0-0.2% at 1450°C×2h) during operation, contributing to long-term furnace seal integrity and dimensional stability .

  • Good Alkali Resistance: The dense microstructure provides effective resistance to alkaline vapor attack from the glass batch, supporting extended service life in the chemically aggressive furnace atmosphere .

  • Consistent Dimensional Accuracy: Precision forming and controlled firing ensure uniform dimensions, facilitating efficient installation and tight joint construction .

Applications

BG-96B silica bricks are ideally suited for a wide range of glass furnace superstructure applications where reliable performance at elevated temperatures is required:

  • Furnace Crowns (Main Roof): Providing stable, load-bearing support at temperatures approaching 1600°C .

  • Breast Walls and Sidewalls: Upper structure walls above the glass line exposed to flame radiation and alkaline vapors .

  • Regenerator Crowns and Walls: The upper structures of regenerator chambers where exhaust gases pass through checkerwork .

  • Port Arches and Port Necks: Flame port structures directing combustion gases into the melting chamber .

  • Suspended Walls and Doghouse Crowns: Areas subject to thermal shock and mechanical abrasion from batch materials .

  • Inlet Sealing Areas: Critical sealing zones requiring dimensional stability at high temperatures .
