Product Introduction

Fireclay Refractory Mortar is a cost-effective, high-performance bonding material specifically designed for laying fireclay bricks and other aluminosilicate-based refractories. It is manufactured from carefully graded calcined fireclay aggregates, raw clay fines, and inorganic binders, delivering consistent workability and dependable hot strength.

This mortar is the standard choice for moderate-temperature applications where economy and reliability are equally important. It performs continuously at temperatures up to 1350°C–1400°C (depending on grade) and is available in both conventional ceramic-bonded and chemically bonded (air-setting) formulations.

Key Technical Features

Controlled Alumina Content – With Al₂O₃ levels typically between 30% and 45%, our fireclay mortar closely matches the composition of standard fireclay bricks, ensuring compatible thermal expansion and chemical behavior.

Excellent Workability – The fine-grain formulation provides smooth troweling, good water retention, and consistent joint thickness (1–3 mm). It stays workable long enough for large masonry jobs without premature stiffening.

Good Bond Strength – Develops strong ceramic bonds at operating temperature. Air-setting grades provide initial cold strength, allowing immediate handling and reducing construction delays.

Low Shrinkage – Optimized particle grading and controlled raw clay content minimize drying and firing shrinkage, keeping joints tight and preventing gas leakage.

Resistance to Thermal Cycling – Formulated to withstand repeated heating and cooling without cracking or spalling, making it ideal for intermittent furnaces and kilns.

Typical Applications

  • Laying fireclay bricks in blast furnace upper stacks

  • Jointing in hot blast stove lower checkers and combustion chambers

  • Construction of ceramic kilnstunnel kilns, and shuttle kilns

  • Boiler refractory linings and chimney brickwork

  • Annealing furnaces and forging furnaces

  • Foundry cupolas and ladle backup linings

  • General repair and maintenance of clay brick masonry

Why Choose Our Fireclay Mortar?

  • Cost-effective – Lower material cost than high-alumina mortars, without compromising reliability for clay brick linings.

  • Matched chemistry – Designed to work with your fireclay bricks, eliminating differential wear and joint failure.

  • Proven durability – Field-tested in thousands of furnaces, kilns, and boilers worldwide.

  • Fast shipping – Available from stock in multiple packaging options.
